TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, is determined to delete his Twitter account. Tony said that it is time to shut down his Twitter account after observing the social media to be a platform for users to vent their aggression.

“Having closed Facebook, time is coming to shut down Twitter. Too much negativity and falsehood and anger. It's been an amazing ride. Feel much better now not on Facebook and am sure it will be even better without Twitter. Social media has become an angry place,” he tweeted, on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Tony closed his Facebook account since March last year. Before leaving Facebook, he had previously mentioned the terror attacks in two Mosques in New Zealand, where the shooter broadcasts the shooting on his Facebook account, live. At this point, Tony announced his intention to also delete his Twitter account.

"The amount of hate that goes on in social media sometimes outweighs the good," he tweeted, on March 17, 2019.

Tony Fernandes has 1.3 million followers on Twitter and over 21,400 tweets since he joined the social platform in 2008. When Tony shared the aforementioned tweet, his account was still accessible.
