TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PDIP central executive board (DPP) chief Djarot Saiful Hidayat said his side would cooperate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on the investigation of the alleged bribery case incriminating General Election Agency (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

“The party will not intervene [in the investigation]. So go ahead [if KPK wants to search PDIP office], as long as it is an official one,” said Djarot at JIExpo Kemayoran on Thursday, January 9.

The bribery case in the KPU dragged in the country’s ruling party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri after the graft busters caught red-handed its cadres, Wahyu and Saeful, who are known as staffers of the party’s secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto.

Djarot admitted that the anti-graft body attempted to search the party’s office located at Jalan Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, last Thursday, yet it was blocked for lacking the search warrant.

“We honor the legal process, but they don’t have strong evidence such as the assignment letter,” he added.

KPK denied that his team did not bring such an assignment letter when visiting the PDIP office. The commission’s deputy chief Lili Pintauli Siregar ensured her team was equipped with the warrant yet the party’s security officers tackled them.

Lili was not sure when the team would have another visit since the investigation warrant has been issued, while the search warrant issuance awaited the permission from KPK’s supervisory board.
