Omnibus Law Oversees Salaries for Workers with 35-hour Workweek

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said the hourly wage regulation would only affect those with a 35-hour workweek and asserted that the wage rules for workers with 40 hours per week would remain the same.
“Ou work hours are 40 hours a week. The flexibility (wage regulation) exists for those working under 35 hours per week, which will be paid hourly. I announce that this will be sounded to business owners and workers’ unions,” said Ida at the Bogor Palace on Friday, December 27.
According to the minister, the regulation is mentioned in the draft Omnibus Law on job availability. Elements mentioned in the regulation on manpoweri included a minimum wage and severance pay.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, meanwhile, mentioned that the draft bill was scheduled to be completed by January 2020 and would be handed to the House of Representatives (DPR) as soon as possible.
Based on its substance, the Omnibus Law on job availability mentions 11 clusters such as business permits, governmental administration, sanctions, land acquisition, governmental projects, and economic regions.
