TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A report from Market Pulse Counterpoint Research announced that the iPhone XR became the world's best-selling smartphone in the third quarter of 2019. The phone bagged three percent of the world's market share, making it the best-selling smartphone in every quarter globally since the fourth quarter of 2018.

Quoting GSM Arena on December 26, Counterpoint reported that the iPhone XR alone accounted for more than one-fourth of Apple's total sales in Q3. That makes it the best-selling smartphone for the tech giant's entire market.

Apple fiddles with the XR's prices in China and other regions, as a way to maintain strong demand during the quarter.

The iPhone XR joins the iPhone 11, launched in September this year with a market share of 1.6 percent.

Other phones that made it into the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones include a total of six models from Samsung and Oppo.

The ninth and tenth places went to Xiaomi's Redmi 7A and Huawei P30.
