TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint search and rescue (SAR) teams continue to search for victims of Sriwijaya bus that veered off a cliff at Liku Lematang Pagaralam, South Sumatra. The third-day search will focus to comb areas within six kilometers from the incident site.

"The teams will comb the river by rafting." the Palembang SAR Agency said in an official statement on Thursday, December 26. The team will trail to the east following the Lematang river flow since there is a possibility to find missing victims.

The teams to be deployed today include Pagaralam SAR Team, Bengkulu SAR Team, and other related communities. They will also dive in the area, including around the site where the bus plunged off the cliff.

On the second day of the search, the team evacuated 48 victims. "35 people of them died and 13 others survived," said Benteng Telau, the operation head of Palembang SAR Agency.

Sriwijaya bus heading to Palembang from Bengkulu veered off the cliff at Liku Lematang, Perahu Dempo Village, Pagaralam City, South Sumatra on late Monday, December 23, at around 11:15 p.m. An earlier report suggested that the death toll in the deadly accident increased to 35 as of Wednesday, December 25.
