Erick Thohir Proposes 3 Candidates for Garuda Indonesia CEO

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The SOE Ministry will submit three candidates for the future president director of state airline Garuda Indonesia in early 2020. SOE Minister Erick Thohir made the announcement yesterday when attending the Mother's Day Celebration at his office in Jakarta.

Garuda Indonesia will hold an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders (EGM) on January 22, 2020.

"In early January, we will propose three candidates. For now, we haven’t submitted [the names] to the [Final Assessment Team]," Minister Erick said, Sunday, December 22.

Erick declined to give the names of the CEO candidates. He only said that if there might be a surprise.

As for now, Garuda Indonesia's finance director Fuad Rizal is acting as temporary CEO. Fuad fills in the position of CEO after I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra was fired over the Harley Davidson smuggling scandal.

The flagship carrier's board of commissioners and the SOE Ministry also agreed to dismiss all directors suspected to have been involved in the smuggling.
