West Jakarta Cleans Up 65 Tons of Trash After Heavy Rain

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the intense rainfall over Jakarta, the city administration’s sanitation unit (UPK) managed to clean up a total of 65.66 tons of trash from the city’s rivers in West Jakarta alone.
Head of West Jakarta’s UPK, Haryanto Silalahi, says that the most trash cleaned came from the West Flood Canals that amounts to 26 tons.
“All of the trash piles were completely handled right after the rain ended yesterday afternoon, evening, and until this morning at 09:00,” said Heryanto on Wednesday, December 18.
According to him, the total amount of trashes collected based on locations were; Cengkareng Drain (3.44 tons), Kembangan District (6.13 tons), Cantiga River (8.4 tons), Palmerah (7.66 tons), Semanan River (4.59 tons), Mookevart River (3.44 tons), and lastly in West Jakarta’s Kali Anak Ciliwung (3.06 tons).
