Ministry Mulls to Allow Bus Using Cikampek Elevated Toll Road

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry opened up the possibility to allow bus passing Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road. The ministry’s land transport director-general Ahmad Yani said the restriction policy was temporary and likely to be revised.
“We are considering the public interest, we must provide priority. Based on the temporary decree letter of the DG, the toll operation is only allowed for private vehicles,” said Ahmad on Wednesday, December 18.
However, he asserted that referred to the evaluation, the bus could operate and pass the toll road, except overloaded and oversized ones.
“That can be discussed, we will consider it later, the DG’s decree can be amended; perhaps following the evaluation for this one-two months,” Ahmad added.
Previously, the Organisation of Land Transport Owners (Organda) demanded the government side with public transportation by allowing it to pass the newly-built highway.
The organization’s head of land passenger transport, Kurnia Lesani Adnan, questioned the government’s policy that excludes bus which is categorized as Group 1 to use the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road.
