TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin underlined that Indonesia's commitment in supporting the peace process in Afghanistan is based on humanitarian reasons and is free of any hidden agenda.

The Ma'ruf Amin delivered the speech in welcoming 38 female delegates from Afghanistan led by Afghanistan's Information and Culture Minister Hasina Safi at the Vice President's office in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

"Indonesia is strongly committed to continuously support Afghanistan's peace process," said Ma'ruf Amin who expressed his gratitude in being the representation of the Indonesian government to welcome the delegates.

The Vice President also highlighted the good relations between the two countries that have been sustained for more than 60 years. Ma'ruf also championed the attempt from Afghan and Indonesian women to share multiple experiences in numerous sectors such as social, politics, and economy.

"Indonesia is committed to strengthen the relations and partnership with Afghanistan in multiple fields and support the peace process," Ma’ruf added. The Vice President's statement follows Jokowi's similar announcement in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Indonesian foreign affairs minister Retno Marsudi also accompanied Ma'ruf Amin in the meeting. The delegates from Afghanistan will stay in Indonesia for five days and participate in numerous activities to promote women empowerment.
