TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air Group revealed the reasons behind Nicolaus Anjar's dismissal, the Wings Air co-pilot who died by suspected suicide. The airline also explained why they imposed a fine of Rp7 billion to the deceased.

Lion Air Group managing director Daniel Putut said the company and prospective employees signed an agreed work contract, which was also the case with Nicolaus. The contract was aimed at securing the employee's commitment to continue working at the company for a specified period of time.

"During his term of employment, there were many violations accumulated, thus it was deemed he was no longer capable of carrying out his duties as an employee. Finally we decided to terminate his contract," he said at a work meeting at the DPR's Commission V, Monday, November 25.

He said that the contract termination procedure was done properly, and that the company had also summoned Nicolaus three times, but he never showed up.

Daniel said the amount of the penalty of Rp7 billion was written in a contract that was mutually agreed upon, which is equivalent to an 18-year term of service.

Regarding the alleged suicide of the deceased, Daniel stated that it is outside the company's responsibility as he was no longer an employee of Lion Air Group.
