TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of a volunteer group supporting Jokowi dubbed Bara JP, Viktor S. Sirait, opined that Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP) or better known as Ahok should have been appointed as a president director of state gas and oil firm Pertamina, instead of a chief commissioner.
If the former Jakarta Governor becomes a president director, Viktor said, his efforts to improve one of the national strategic companies will be more optimal, given his good ability and credibility.
“He has the courage to make a change from a habit that is often considered ‘right’ which is apparently wrong,” said Viktor in a written statement, Sunday, November 24.
According to Viktor, Basuki’s credibility had so far been proved as he did not comply with anyone’s interest, except the company’s or the state’s. “We want to see that Pertamina is capable of further optimizing its potential in a bid to provide good service to the public.”
However, Viktor said that BaraJP believed that the appointment of Basuki as a chief commissioner in Pertamina was in accordance with the state firm’s needs.
The public wished that Pertamina could be better and able to compete with similar companies in the global, as well as provide satisfying services to Indonesian people.
“Ahok has the capabilities to do his big job in Pertamina. State-owned enterprises need someone like him,” Viktor remarked.
