Ahok Comments on Pertamina Workers Union's Rejection

20 November 2019 18:38 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaBasuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP), known as Ahok, coolly responded to the rejection voiced by the worker’s union in light of the planned appointment of himself being the leader of state gas and oil company Pertamina.

“I guess, I have frequently faced rejection. Well, in this life, not all people will support you. There are even people who reject God,” he said in Semarang, Central Java, Wednesday, November 20.

The former Jakarta governor said he was ready to lead Pertamina should he is assigned by State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir. “Yes, if I’m ordered so, I must be ready.”

BTP conveyed his statement shortly before he presented as the speaker of the workshop initiated by the PDIP faction of Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) at Grand Arkenso Hotel, Semarang.

During the session, the PDIP politician also commented on an edited photo showing him donning a uniform of Pertamina workers that went viral on social media. “The hand is small, that’s ugly, my hands are big actually. So if you want to edit [a picture of me], make my body big,” Basuki joked.
