TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In opening the Google for Indonesia event, Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Nadiem Makarim asked Google, unicorns, and tech startups to change their paradigm on the Indonesian government and not hesitate to ask the Government for assistance.

“Please, just ask us directly. Please change the paradigm and not be hesitant or shy to ask the government for something that is needed,” said Nadiem at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater in South Jakarta on Wednesday, November 20.

He then explained that the Ministry he leads intends to change the existing paradigm and not only places the government as mere regulators but also as an element within the ecosystem. Nadiem argues that the education and tech world is not too far apart.

“Organizations that are most effective are those that can innovate autonomously, which can in itself create one renewal work to conduct complex tasks,” said Nadiem Makarim, “If you think technology is complex, imagine the education of a student from kindergarten up to 21 years of age, there are no tasks, problem definitions, because there are no engineering more complicated than a human engineering.”

Due to this high level of complexity, Nadiem Makarim says the more complex a task is, the more important innovation is within an organization. He maintains that the potential in organizational collaborations is the collective goal to move forward.
