4 Festivals in Jakarta This Weekend

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta administration organizes four festivals in several locations across the city. These events can be alternatives for people to enjoy their weekends.

Check the following list:

1. Jakarta International Performing Arts (JakIPA 2019)

Jakarta International Performing Arts or popular as JakIPA 2019 is held at Monas' East Plaza for two days; Saturday and Sunday, November 16-17. The event will officially be opened this afternoon at 18:30.

Deputy Governor of culture and tourism department, Dadang Solihin, said JakIPA 2019 will present art performances including music, dance, and even circus. It is not only participated by local performers but also international artists such as from Germany, Hungary, China and Russia.

2. Jakarta Cosplay Parade 2019

The international event will be held at Monas Silang Barat on Sunday, November 17, bearing the theme 'Indonesia Universe'. There will be cosplayer competition with various categories at the Jakarta Cosplay Parade 2019.

Jakarta's secretary of culture and tourism department Asiantoro said the competition will be juried by famous cosplayer, namely Erlan Bakabon, Frea Mai, Sora Hua, and Echow Eko.

Other juries include cosplayers from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The prize is set at more than Rp134 million.

3. Festival Pesona Lokal (FPL) Jakarta (Jakarta Pesona Lokal festival)

The festival that is aimed at promoting Betawi culture and local wisdom of the capital city is held today and tomorrow, November 16-17 at Southeast Plaza of Gelora Bung Karno complex.

The event will present cultural parade, contemporary dance competition, local contemporary design competition with the fan as the medium, competition a la local celebgram, culinary and food truck festival, as well as local games and local products bazaar.

A number of musicians such as Raisa, Zaskia Gotik, Abdul Idol, and Efek Rumah Kaca will also enliven the event. This festival is the closing event of the series of Festival Pesona Lokal 2019 previously held from August to November in 7 cities across Indonesia; Medan, Denpasar, Surabaya, Bandung, Makassar, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta.

4. Festival Kreatif Jakarta (Jakarta creative festival)

It is held in the Rasuna Epicentrum area, South Jakarta, this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, November 16-17. The visitors can enjoy various activities in this event, such as Zumba, cooking demo, creative workshops, dance performance, musical performance, and many others.

Not only those, people can also explore the city's open public area. "There is an activities exhibition for Jakartans. The people are welcomed to enjoy their weekends by visiting this festival," said Jakarta administration secretary Saefullah.
