TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Andreas Pareira asserted that the government coalition parties should maintain the public trust given to them. People, he added, did not favor parties or politicians having the authority or power orientation.

"The people are tired of seeing parties or politicians who only think and work to gain power from one election to another," Andreas told Tempo on Sunday, November 10.

Andreas made the statement in response to the NasDem Party, which had already prepared to seek candidates it would endorse in the 2024 presidential election.

Earlier, Nasdem Party executive board (DPP) chairman Zulfan Lindan said that his party would open an opportunity to nominate four regional heads as a future presidential candidate. Nasdem would also establish a convention to recruit candidates.

The four regional heads were Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.

"[We have to] work first, help to succeed Jokowi's government," the House of Representatives (DPR) member underlined.

Andreas went on to say that albeit NasDem began preparing for the next election race, the coalition party supporting Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin remained solid. “We are not bothered [by the matter],” he said.
