Police Officers Processed in Kidnapping of a British Citizen

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Police Chief of internal affairs division (Propam), Insp. Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, announced that court ethics will be held to process the four officers who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of British national, Matthew Simon Craib.
Police members incriminated in the case will go through the criminal court justice procedures. “Yes, once those involved are done with the criminal court process, they will be [entered in the police court ethics],” said Listyo in South Jakarta on Friday, Nov. 8.
The four cops have been named suspects and are detained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters according to the Metro Jaya Police spokesman Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono.
“They were named suspects since last week. The incident took place long before,” said Argo.
The four rouge police officers now face charges on blackmail (Article 368 of the Criminal Code).
The kidnapping happened on October 29, 2019, when Matthew Simon Craib was in the middle of a journey at 02:00 a.m. on October 30 before he was abducted by a group of men, four of them were policemen, who then demanded US$1 million ransom.
