TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said 59 Chinese investors engaged in the wood and furniture business will relocate factories to Indonesia. The investors plan to relocate their industry to Central Java.

The Chinese investors decided to relocate their industry because of Indonesia's ability to maintain its investment climate, BKPM chief Bahlil Lahadalia said.

Another reason is the simple process of licensing in Central Java, which Bahlil said is one of Indonesia's provinces with the best licensing system and service.

Central Java won the 2018 Investment Award as the best in providing one-stop services throughout the nation.

Bahlil requested that BKPM and the Central Java Government continue to collaborate in pushing furniture investments in the province.

"BKPM has brought together furniture entrepreneurs from overseas with local furniture industry players. We hope they will soon be able to partner and build factories in Central Java," he said.

Meanwhile, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that the province is targeting an investment of Rp47.42 trillion at the end of 2019.
