Unsyiah, GFW Cooperates in Marine and Fisheries Research

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Global Fishing Watch (GFW) and the Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) in Banda Aceh are cooperating to conduct research and development for Indonesia's fisheries and marine sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding marking the beginning of the cooperation was signed by representatives from both institution on October 22, 2019.

"The collaboration is part of GFW Goes to Campus program in Indonesia. We hoped that through the program, GFW together with Indonesian researcher can develop Indonesia's fisheries and marine science and technology," said Ahmad Baihaki, Manager of the Indonesia Global Fishing Watch Program through a press release on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Ahmad hoped that the cooperation can help researchers to increase the capacity and quality of their research in the international community and help to enrich research related to Indonesian marine.

Meanwhile, Dean of Marine and Fisheries Faculty of Unsyiah Muchlisin welcomed the cooperation. Muchlisin hoped that the collaboration can develop science and innovation, especially research concerning fisheries and marine affairs in Unsyiah.
