TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tremor from a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale that jolted Mindanao, the Philippines, Tuesday morning, October 29, reached Indonesian regions.

“Mindanao quake affects Indonesian areas such as Tahuna, Sangihe, Melonguane, and Talaud (North Sulawesi) at the intensity level II-III of MMI scale,” said Daryono, the head of the quake and tsunami mitigation at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The quake occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers was triggered by unknown cesarean activity.

According to Daryono, this morning’s quake at Mindanao had been preceded by a quake of 6.4 magnitudes that happened 12 days ago or on October 16, claiming one person and injuring over 24 people as strong tremor destructed buildings.

Daryono opined today’s earthquake that had a higher magnitude would cause more severe damages considering the `shake map` showed the tremor reached the intensity level VII of the MMI scale.
