Traffic Plans Set in Anticipation of Street Protest at DPR

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate has applied traffic engineering in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building in anticipation of street protests on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Metro Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) official site announces today that the traffic plan will be situational and has taken effect since late Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 p.m.

The traffic scheme is as follows:

- Vehicles from JCC Senayan heading to Slipi is directed to Lapangan Tembak Senayan.

- Traffic from Lapangan Tembak Senayan en routing to Slipi is directed to pass the flyover of Farmasi towards Ladokgi or Jalan Bendungan Hilir.

- Traffic from Palmerah heading to Lapangan Tembak is directed to Pejompongan.

- Vehicles to exit the toll before DPR are directed to head the exit toll gate of Slipi Jaya.

Previous reports suggested that the Association of University Students' Executive Bodies (BEM-SI) of Jakarta Greater Area and Banten will stage a demonstration themed #TuntaskanReformasi today, Oct. 17 at 01:00 p.m. The BEM SI's media coordinator Ghozi Basyir confirmed the event.

According to Ghozi, some 2,000 students will take to the streets, urging President Jokowi to issue a regulation in lieu of law or Perpu to revoke the amended KPK Law, which will be effective today. “We do not have intentions to stop the [presidential] inauguration,” he underlined.
