TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy head Laode Muhammad Syarif shared his hopes that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will appoint ministers with integrity in his second cabinet. He also hoped the tapped ministers have a clean track record and professionalism.

“We hope those who will be appointed by the President are people with a good track record, impeccable integrity, and professional in the sector they will oversee,” said Syarif at the Anti-corruption Study Center, Jakarta, Monday, Oct. 14.

Previously, Jokowi declared that he had completed the formation of his second cabinet. However, he refused to detail the names and asserted that the announcement will be held during or after the presidential inauguration, which is scheduled on October 20.

The President said that he was still considering changes in the cabinet structure until the last minute.

Unlike the cabinet formation in 2015, the anti-graft body is no longer involved in tracing the track record of ministerial candidates. However, Syarif asserted that his side does not mind the matter. “That is the rights of the president,” he added.

Syarif underlined that the KPK is ready to provide a recommendation if the President asks for ones. “If there is a request, we will give inputs. Otherwise, there is no problem,” he said.
