Student Groups Clean Up Jakarta's Facilities after Protests

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two youth groups proclaiming dubbing themselves as the Aktivis Milenial (Millenial activists) and Aktivi(Z) held a public cleanup following the student protests in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) last week.
The agenda, in which the groups' members clean public facilities in three areas of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium, was dubbed the “Aksi ‘Santuy (Banget)”, which is roughly translated to "the laid-back act,” borrowing the popular term “santuy” often used by the young generation.
GBK's Gate 1 was the group’s first location, followed by the Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) bus stop in the vicinity of GBK, and finally the JCC Senayan flyover. The teens helped clean the areas’ walls from tags and spray paints, many of which were inappropriate.
“We’ll head to the JCC Senayan flyover in the end,” said Alvinaldy Fitrah, the head of Jakarta’s Student Executive Organization (OSIS) Forum on Friday.
Aktivi(Z) repainted the walls that were filled with spray paint writings. The expenses for the cleaning tools were all collected from its members.
“We collected money from our members,” said the movement’s person in charge, Pramatatya.
