LRT Jabodebek Targeted to Fully Operable by 2021: Minister

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi targets that the mass transportation Light Rapid Transit (LRT) connecting Jakarta - Bogor - Depok - Bekasi, or known as LRT Jabodebek, will be fully operable by the end of 2021.
"We hope it will be operational in November 2021," he said in Jakarta, today, October 3.
The minister says that the team has to soon acquired the land in Bekasi for depo construction, in order to meet the set target.
Once the construction completes, the light train will be connected with fast train in Cawang, as well as with the MRT, says Minister Budi. He also says that LRT will begin to test-trial its Cawang-Cibubur route next week, starting from on how to lift it.
According to the minister, there will be a total of 180 LRT train sets which will be gradually sent. One train-set consists of six train cars. Around 5 to 10 train-sets will be used for the trial period which is scheduled to take place for 3 to 6 months.
