TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police had detected people disguising as university students during the demonstrations at DPR-MPR building until Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Monday, September 30.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said they played the same role as they did in the previous rally of May 21-22. They claimed to be invited by someone who promised them compensation of Rp40,000.

“Yes, there were people disguising as students. Some had infiltrated the rally by donning senior high school or STM uniforms after being arrested by Jakarta Police,” said Dedi in his office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

Dedi revealed that they designated the act, including preparing Molotov bombs. Their acts were even similar to the demonstration act on May 21-22.

“This is not a pure students’ protest because it was infiltrated by rioters as occurred on May 22-23. They attacked security officers and set public facilities on fire,” said Dedi, adding that the fake students were still undergoing interrogations at Jakarta Metro Police HQ.

As previous reports suggested, the students’ demonstration on Monday, September 30 in front of the DPR-MPR building turned into chaos which started in the evening until the early hours of Tuesday.
