TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Political parties in the House of Representatives (DPR) shared different opinions on President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s plan to issue a regulation in lieu of law or Perpu on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The new legislation is believed to revoke the KPK Law, which was recently passed by the lawmakers.

Several opposition parties agreed should the President releases the Perpu, namely PKS, Gerindra, and PAN. However, Democrat Party deputy chief Syarief Hasan said there was no urgency for the President to issue the new bill.

Meanwhile, pro-government parties strongly refuse the idea, especially PDIP. The House’s Law Commission member from PDIP faction, Arteria Dahlan, even demanded the President to ignore the parties he considered as ‘the whisperer’.

“The President should not be trapped in practicing unconstitutional acts,” said Arteria at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Monday, September 30.

PKB also asked the President to not issue the Perpu and let those who objected to the amended KPK Law to file a judicial review to Constitutional Court, said the party’s advisory council chairman Maman Imanulhaq two days ago.

Golkar Party and PPP have not yet responded to the President's plan, while NasDem stated its support on Jokowi's decision. "We believe the President will make the best decision for this nation," said NasDem Secretary-General Johnny G. Plate a few days ago.
