TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A representative of Jakarta Student Executive Body (BEM) Andi Prayoga said the university students will consolidate to organize another demonstration, rejecting problematic laws during the last plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the period of 2014-2019, on Monday, September 30.
"Yes, we'll re-consolidate so we can collect our opinions and restlessness. Take the street to voice our concern, the people's voices," said the student of STE Bank Islam Mr. Sjafrudin Prawiranegara in a discussion at D'consulate Lounge Wahid Hasyim, Jakarta, Saturday, September 28.
When asked about their reasons to again take the street despite the demands had been met, Andi said that the students want DPR dropped the Criminal Code bill (RKUHP) and other problematic bills, not only delaying the ratification.
In addition, he demanded the President to soon issue a Perpu (government regulation in lieu of law) regarding the passed KPK Law revision, added that this was the main reason why they refuse to meet Jokowi.
Andi said they did not have the need to meet the President since the students across Indonesia agreed that it was a must for Jokowi to issue the Perpu to replace the new KPK Law. "It's no longer a negotiation," he asserted.
However, he underlined that the statement did not represent all students from all the universities in the country, saying that he only represented himself and his campus.
"I don't represent the fellow students, I answer for myself and my campus," Andi said.
