TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration announced that it plans to provide sufficient training for dozens of small industries registered under the city’s Environmental Agency contributing to the city’s pollution.
“They will be trained regarding their business model that may come from small and medium enterprises,” said the environmental agency’s head Andono on Tuesday, September 17.
He says there are 23 small industries that contributed to the poor air quality in North Jakarta’s Cilincing. They are charcoal-burning and aluminum smelting home industries.
The agency recently tested the air quality in the city and recorded that the NO2 and H2S parameters had exceeded the permitted limits.
Meanwhile, the aluminum factory will be sealed off and closed down by the government in a joint effort together with the local North Jakarta police as the factory causes harmful chemical wastes and pollution.
