TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ninth House of Representatives (DPR) plenary meeting this noon sees the Corruption Eradication Commission law or KPK Law revision officially ratified on Tuesday, September 17.

The plenary that was led by House Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah received nearly one-hundred percent support from legislators despite it being a widely-considered a controversially rushed law as the House did not wait for President Jokowi’s approval, nor did they obtain it from the KPK leaders.

“We can't, it’s impossible for us to wait for the KPK,” said the head of the House’ legislation board Andi Agtas at the Parliamentary Complex today, September 17.

Andi even maintained that the communication between the president and KPK should not have been planned in urgent times as legislators face currently.

Fahri Hamzah acknowledged that the rushed process to ratify the law was to meet the deadline of the current DPR tenure that ends on September 30.

“This is nearing the end. All Laws are like that. There are still 8 to 10 Laws in the waiting list. The KPK Law revision took 10 years to approve,” said Fahri Hamzah who offered people who disagree to file judicial review prior to its amendment.
