TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 231 mobility cars or special vehicles for disabled people are exempt from the odd-even policy as those fleets are equipped with particular stickers, said Jakarta Transportation Agency head Syafrin Liputo.

He explained that people with disabilities could get the immunity stickers through several processes. First, they have to file a request to the transportation agency along with several administrative requirements, such as ID cards, family cards, vehicle ownership documents (STNK), and photos.

“After a request is received, we will conduct a survey,” said Syafrin in Jakarta, Friday, September 6.

He added that his staffers were currently processing 125 requests, and the process to decide the sticker issuance would take about three days at maximum.

If the applicant finds difficulties in accessing public transportation, the agency will issue the sticker. However, those who are still able to board public transportation will not get it, Syafrin said.

“Public transportation, such as Transjakarta, provides facilities for the disabled so they can easily access it,” he said.

Additionally, if a vehicle with a special sticker does not transport a disabled person, the car owner will be ticketed, and likewise, a vehicle transporting a disabled person but without a special sticker violates the traffic regulations.

Starting today, September 9, Jakarta has expanded areas affected by the odd-even policy to 25 roads:
