TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Entrepreneur and former vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno called for Indonesia’s youths to improve on creativity to avoid unemployment.

“Seeking jobs is getting difficult, creativity is the answer. Being creative not only saves oneself but also other people,” said Sandiaga in North Sumatra’s Entrepreneurs Network (Japnas) meeting on Sunday, September 8, at the SAGA Creative Hub in Medan.

Notable figures present in the meeting were; Prabowo Subianto’s spokesman, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, and Indonesian House (DPR) Member Gus Irawan Pasaribu.

Sandiaga said that despite Indonesia’s 9-10 percent creative industry growth, it is still considered below other countries.

“The creative industry must be improved in order to suppress the negative effects of global investments that are exiting Indonesia,” said Sandiaga who mentioned the culinary, fashion, and tourism as industries that have major potentials to grow.

Sandiaga Uno also called for business legal certainty for, especially for newcomers, in order to boost the creative industry. North Sumatra Japnas Chairman Syahrul Akbar said that Uno was invited as he is seen with high-regards among Indonesia’s younger generation.
