TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City-owned tap water company PDAM distributed two water tank trucks carrying eight thousand liters of clean water to the residents impacted by the unrest in Jayapura, Papua Province, President Director Entis Sutisna stated on Wednesday.

Sutisna explained that people in need of water may visit the PDAM branch office or message the officers through the company's social media platforms.

However, the president director of PDAM Jayapura has made assurance of the company's water pipe functioning normally since the past days. The city water tap company distributed at least 40 thousand liters of clean water daily to the residents in Jayapura.

A power shutdown by the State Electricity Firm during the turmoil in Jayapura had resulted in temporary disruption in the company's clean water service.

Apart from access to tap water, the postal service operated by the state-owned company Pos Indonesia too had returned to normalcy.

However, the Jayapura Postal Service Office Chairman Alex Nitalessy affirmed that he had yet limited the operational hours of the mailing service between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time.

Typically, the mailing service was available until 8 p.m. local time.

Some demonstrations erupted in Jayapura on Aug 28, over racial slur against Papuan students in Surabaya, snowballing into riots when protesters scorched state buildings, vehicles, and public facilities.
