TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan planned to close the park and ride facility in Thamrin 10. The parking space will be remodeled into a culinary center in a bid to boost the people’s economy.
“We will change the site. It will be no longer a parking lot but a culinary center,” said Anies in Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, September 3.
Anies explained the land function is changed as part of the plans to shut down several parking bags in the central province, such as Sudirman-Thamrin, as an effort to suppress the use of private vehicles.
“We have to reduce the number of private vehicle use by raising the parking rate or reducing the parking lots,” Anies said.
At present, the city administration is mulling over the tariff hike, yet Anies was reluctant to expose the details and asked the public to be patiently waiting.
“Park your car in your house. [The regulation] is still being prepared, when it meets for completion, it will be announced. It will be final soon,” he added.
As of date, there is no exact date when Anies Baswedan will shut off the parking space. Only a banner informing that the park and ride facility will be closed soon displayed in the location.
