TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run electricity company PLN has announced that it has successfully recovered the last two electric feeders in Jayapura, Papua, allegedly damaged following the riots in the city. The firm’s Vice President of Public Relations, Dwi Suryo Abdullah, said the feeders were located in Merak and Maleo.

“At 14:00 WIB, all of 40 electric feeders have been repaired,” said Dwi in a written statement, Friday, August 30.

In Jayapura alone, the electricity load reaches 62 megawatts supported by 40 feeders.

Besides recovering the feeders, Dwi added, the team was still striving to renovate one electric substation and 20kv medium-voltage substation in the provincial capital's port.

Previously, PLN shut down the electricity in Jayapura after another riot broke out. The protesters burned down the offices of Telkom and Papua People’s Assembly.

The 19-megawatt electricity need in the city could not be fulfilled since six electric feeders were damaged on Thursday, August 29. The feeders are located in Merak, Nuri, Mambruk, Kasuary, Rajawali, and Maleo.
