TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Regent of East Kalimantan’s North Penajam Paser, Abdul Gafur Mas’ud announced that he is “one hundred percent” prepared to greet its future status as Indonesia’s new Capital City.

“We have prepared land areas up to 300,000 hectares where it is not in settlement areas but only privately-owned productive lands. Penajam itself is three 330,000 square hectares,” said Abdul Gafar on Monday, August 26.

According to the regent, not only are land areas plenty available, but the population in the area is still at its minimum with up to 170,000 people that are spread across four sub-districts.

The area’s infrastructure itself, he says, is sufficient enough to support the activities of a Capital City and that there is a plethora of ongoing public facility constructions that will later connect each area.

The North Penajam Paser’s Regent then hopes that the move will see highly-qualified people being produced by the plan.
