TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR Minister) Basuki Hadimuljono said President Joko Widodo or Jokowi requested changes to the design of the Vice Presidential Palace in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), North Penajam Paser area, East Kalimantan. The president asked for some of the initial designs to be improved.
Basuki said the construction of the Vice Presidential Palace at IKN is scheduled for July 2024. The construction is expected to take about a year.
"The design has changed. During the first auction we came up with the first winning design, but after being seen by the President, it needed to be revised, so we revised it," Basuki said on Wednesday, March 13.
Previously, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin admitted that he was yet to have an office at IKN. The former Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council conveyed this when giving a press statement in Tangerang on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
"Regarding IKN, it has not been discussed yet. I have not been assigned whether I will go [to IKN] or just in Jakarta," said Ma'ruf.
The government plans for President Jokowi to have his office in IKN in July 2024. This condition can be fulfilled if supporting infrastructure such as water sources and toll roads are available.
