TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Police's Internal Affairs Division (Propam) are investigating an alleged offering of a bribe in the form of alcoholic drinks for Papuan students in Bandung.

“The case has been handled by West Java Propam. If it’s proven so, we will take action based on the regulation,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo via a short message, Friday, August 23.

Previous reports suggested that the Papuan Student Association in Bandung refused two packs of liquor delivered by two police officers. A student named Miles C. Jikwa said the police officers in full uniforms sent the liquor brand Topi Koboi to the secretariat office in Cilaki, Bandung, Thursday, August 22.

According to Miles, the drinks were given when he and other students held a solidarity event in Gedung Sate, Bandung City. Miles claimed to have shocked when the officers came to deliver two packs of liquor, rice, and instant noodles to his office.

He then contacted his friends to take the goods to the event to return them to the police. The officers who were allegedly sending the goods were also present in the act.

One of the officers who delivered the liquor, Comr. Christiaty, clarified and claimed that it was not an alcoholic drink. She also issued an apology if the college students displeased by the delivery.

Meanwhile, Bandung Resort Police have yet to release clarification regarding the delivery of alcoholic drinks for Papuan college students. The police spokesperson could not be reached.
