TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Chief Patron Prabowo Subianto admitted that he discussed possible ties with the acting chairman of the United Development Party or PPP Suharso Monoarfa in proposing the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) package during today’s meeting, August 15.

“We, as political parties, seek a common ground where we can deal in cooperation. There are still other [chances, such as] in legislative, MPR, anywhere,” said Prabowo in his residence, Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 15.

The PPP secretary-general Arsul Sani confirmed the talks and said his party opened such possible cooperation with Gerindra to join together with the Indonesian Working Coalition (KIK).

“The point is, PPP has no objection with Gerindra joining the package. But this must be decided together,” said Arsul Sani in the same location.

At present, political parties are canvassing the MPR leadership package before the end of the parliament period in October. PDIP had already opened talks with Gerindra since the beginning.

PDIP secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto said his party shared the same political views and concepts with Gerindra. However, the decision is still on the hand of President Jokowi and the coalition party leaders.
