TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The acting director of state-run electricity firm Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Sripeni Inten Cahyani, explained there was electricity disruption at 11:45 a.m. on the Ungaran-Pemalang Extra High Voltage, or the circuit one.

"Then it followed at the second circuit and created a decrease in voltage causing disruption in Depok and Tasik," said Cahyani at Gandul Load Control Center, Depok, Sunday, August 4.

The incident, she added, then caused a massive blackout in West Java, Banten, and Jakarta areas. According to her, only East Java, Bali, and Central Java’s electricity were normal at 11:45 a.m., except Brebes.

"So East Java and Bali were safe at 11:48 a.m. West Java, Banten, and Jakarta went blackout," she said.

Cahyani claimed that the recovery efforts were taken immediately in Gandul, West Java as to supply electric power in the west areas. "We inform that [the hydro-generated power plant or PLTA] Saguling and Cirata started to operate as power stabilizer at 16:27 p.m. as the electric power comes from East Java," she added.

After then, at 16:27 p.m. it supplied the electricity from Cibinong to Depok and Gandul. "On behalf of the directors, we truly apologize to PLN customers for this unpleasant condition," she remarked.
