Anies Baswedan Blames Previous Governors for Waste Issue

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he is designing a road map on waste management in the capital city. Anies made the statement in response to the comparative study held by the city councilor in Surabaya, East Java.
The governor said that he is preparing to change the city’s waste management through a road map as he deemed the previous governors did not focus on the issue.
“We know that the waste management in Jakarta is not good yet thus far, and that’s a fact,” the governor said at his official residence on Jalan Taman Suropati, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31.
Previously, a member of the Regional Regulation Drafting Board (Bapemperda), Bestari Barus, conducted a comparative study on waste management to Surabaya, East Java. The NasDem politician even asked Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini if she is willing to go to the capital to help solve the problem.
In a video circulated on social media platforms, Risma was laughing when she was informed that the capital city earmarked Rp3 trillion for the waste issue. In another video, Risma said that she is ready to help if necessary.
Responding to the question by Bestari, Anies Baswedan considered it an attack against him. “Perhaps, what Pak Bestari said is meant to criticize the current governor, while in fact, he criticizes previous governors. So he must be careful,” Anies said.
