Anies Baswedan Acknowledges Jakarta's Poor Waste Management

“What was done up until this moment to Jakarta is to just pick up the trashes instead of managing the waste,” said Anies in Suropati Park Street in central Jakarta today.
His remark for past governors will be followed by a roadmap for the city’s waste management.
However, Anies was not keen on letting people know the contents of the roadmap and only said that he will quickly announce it once it is ready. The strategy the governor has prepared is said to take a while to do as it involves the household and industrial waste.
One of his plans is to reduce the city’s waste directly from its sources. “We feel that the city’s waste management is not great and that is something that I must accept as fact,” said Anies.
The governor’s answer to Jakarta’s waste management issue is a response to the criticism made by the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) D Commission on development, Bestari Barus. Anies Baswedan said that Bestari must share the blame and responsibility for Jakarta’s lack of waste management
