TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy said he would question the Jakarta provincial administration for not implementing the ministerial regulation No. 51/2018 concerning new student admission (PPDB).
“We will study this. I will also ask the Jakarta governor (Anies Baswedan) directly,” said Muhadjir at Jakarta Vocational School (SMK) 1, Monday, July 29.
Jakarta reportedly has implemented its regional system instead of the school zoning system as stipulated in the regulation. Nevertheless, Muhadjir also said that he would review the zoning system.
Previously, Jakarta Ombudsman head Teguh P. Nugroho said the city administration failed to apply the zoning system, as evident from its PPDB technical guide.
“We truly lament the Jakarta administration's overlooking the ministerial regulation No. 51/2018 on zoning system,” said Teguh via phone call, Wednesday, July 3.
According to Teguh, the ministry has assessed that Anies Baswedan committed maladministration, yet based on the Government Regulation (PP) No. 13/2015 on the national education system, the city could not be blamed. The regulation noted about the scores of national exams for higher education, and so it contrasted with the school zoning system.
Therefore, Teguh suggested the government immediately revise the inconsistency between the Ministerial Regulation on PPDB via school zoning system and PP 13/2015. Besides, the Education and Culture Ministry also has a ministerial decree No. 14/2015 on national exam results as a criterion for new student selection.
