TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said she will design a light rail transit or LRT to support the development of Indonesia Islamic Science Park in the foot of Suramadu Bridge near Madura. The park will have an area of 101 hectares.

“We indeed need LRT for people's mobility in the 101 hectares area,” said Khofifah in Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs office, Thursday, July 25.

The project of Indonesia Islamic Science Park, she explained, had been listed in the strategic plan to develop Suramadu area, and it will be under the management of Surabaya-Madura Development Agency.

The park will be designed 25 percent for education, 30 percent for art and culture, and 50 percent for tourism. It will have a floating market, Islamic museum equipped with augmented reality technology and other facilities.

The Islamic concept was also expected to boost the sharia economy in Indonesia. “We have presented a detailed plan to several institutions, investors candidate,” she added.

However, she stopped short of detailing the project cost, yet she claimed several investors from domestic, Middle East, up to China willing to participate in the project.
