TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri asserted that the terms 'opposition' and 'coalition' do not exist in Indonesia's constitution. The statement was her answer to questions on the Gerindra party's coalition with the government after the meeting of both figures.

Megawati said that there are no coalition and opposition in the constitution of Indonesia. "But it's okay if there is a difference in choices," she said at her residence in Menteng, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 24.

However, she said that holding dialogues remain important. "But I said that it's all president-elect's decision since it's his prerogative rights, not mine," Megawati added.

PDIP Secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto seconded Megawati's statement, saying that Indonesia is the country with mutual cooperation; there are no opposition and coalition.

"But there are parties outside the government that also take part in discussing the laws based on the mutual agreement between the government and House of Representatives (DPR)," Hasto said in the same location.
