Jokowi Leads Police 73rd Anniversary Ceremony at Monas Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will lead a ceremony to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of National Police or commonly called Bhayangkara Day at the National Monument (Monas) square, Central Jakarta, today, July 10.
The President and First Lady Iriana were welcomed by police cavalry as they arrived at 07:33 Jakarta time.
“This is the peak commemoration event of Bhayangkara 73rd anniversary. We will later hold various events after the ceremony,” said National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo before the event began.
He explained a parade, such as personnel attractions, a joint marching band of Indonesian Military and Police, as well as skydiving, will entertain the guests.
“The last agenda will be awards delivery for members who contribute in maintaining Indonesia security,” Dedi added.
In this year’s celebration, National Police collaborated with Indonesian Military (TNI) as a form of synergy and deployed a total of 4,000 joint personnel.
The ceremony of National Police 73rd anniversary was initially scheduled on July 1. Police Chief General Tito Karnavian said that the event was postponed because of security issues following 2019 general elections.
