TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - OVO director of enterprise payment, Haryanto Gunawan, congratulated LinkAja on its grand launching held on Sunday. He hoped the two platforms could synergize in educating the public on the benefits of the cashless payment system.

“We truly welcome and congratulate LinkAja. We can then directly educate customers together on the importance and benefits of changing cash to a cashless system,” said Haryanto in South Jakarta, July 1,

On Sunday, June 30, the e-money system platform owned by PT Fintek Karya Nusantara (Finarya) was officially launched by SOE Minister Rini Soemarno.

According to Haryanto, the synergy between the two could be realized considering the rate of digital payment in Indonesia was still low or under 10 percent. “Based on a few surveys, [the use of] digital payment in Indonesia is low, or around 10 percent.”

Haryanto said that the rest 90 percent still utilized cash transactions. Thus, there was an opportunity to create a larger market.

Previously, LinkAja CEO Danu Wicaksana said that his platform approached different strategies from similar competitors in running the business, such as targeting new users outside big cities. This was in line with the platform’s mission to enhance the inclusion of digital finance.

Danu explained his e-payment platform determined to provide essential services for customers. When competitors offered many discounts on food and beverages, the e-wallet planned to provide services in the transportation sector, such as toll gates.

Additionally, the platform was set to provide payment services for MRT and LRT as well, pending talks with Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
