TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Trucks Business Association (Aptrindo) lamented the policy on the extension day of truck operation restriction via Trans Java toll from Semarang to Jakarta until Wednesday, June 12. The regulation was said to cause losses for the truck business, both from the side of time and financial.

Aptrindo deputy head Kyatmaja Lookman explained truck business had never agreed on the operation restriction during Eid homecoming season or mudik lebaran. However, the truck operation would not be productive considering the high traffic volume.

“This must be remembered, there is a two-day extra of the restriction that means we have not worked for 15 days since May 30. [We plan] to work tomorrow, but the extra days change our plan, for vehicles Group III, IV, and V,” Kyatmaja told Bisnis on Monday, June 10.

Kyatmaja explained vehicles of Group IV and V managed export and import activities, and so the operation restriction forcibly postponed the picking of packed containers.

“This vehicle cannot be replaced with a small one because the cost will rise, not to mention that we cannot assign more drivers,” he added.

To date, Kyatmaja continued, his production tools are the road and trucks. So if the road could not be passed, the production would automatically be stopped. Moreover, he would possibly face empty stock and goods owner would be beset.

Additionally, he should pay the fixed cost of leasing. “The leasing cost is about 20-30 percent from total production cost, this is a capital factor, the proportion is quite high. Therefore, this credit has harmed entrepreneurs,” Kyatmaja said.
