TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial administration stated it will not hold an annual civil registration raid or yustisi operation. However, the data registration towards newcomers in the capital city will kick off on June 14-25, 2019.

Jakarta Population and Civil Registry Agency head, Dhany Sukma, said the registration would be started pending on arrivals of all newcomers in the capital after 2019 Eid or Lebaran.

“This aims to serve and manage the population. The initial stage will be registration,” said Dhany in the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, June 10.

Dhany explained that the neighboring and community units (RT and RW) will run the registration by mapping residential areas of newcomers before submitting it to the agency. Then, the agency will release a certificate of non-permanent resident on June 26-July 3.

The certificate will be issued after they show official data such as e-ID Card or Family Card and other supporting documents including an assignment letter or a cover letter from their initial RT/RW.

“So then we issue the non-permanent residential permit as their document while staying in Jakarta,” said Dhany. “It will be valid for one year. After a year, we’ll register it again. The population mobility is quite high, so we need data.”

Earlier, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that yustisi operation would not be conducted as commonly held in previous years towards newcomers who did not possess Jakarta e-ID card. Instead, the administration would register them.

Anies allowed people from outside Jakarta or newcomers to work in the capital because every Indonesian citizen has a right to live and earn a living in Jakarta or other cities.
