TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) explained the reason why until now, the light rail transit (LRT) train has yet to operate. The new transportation mode was initially planned to be operated during the 2018 Asian Games.

Jakpro President Director Dwi Wahyu Daryoto, said that the LRT is yet to operate because it still needs to wait for the completion of the skybridge connecting the Rawamangung velodrome and the Pemuda Rawamangung Transjakarta shelter.

"So why the LRT was delayed? Because we are waiting for the skyrbidge connecting the Transjakarta shelter to be completed," Dwi said on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

He added that the skybridge will allow passengers boarding the LRT to immediately transfer to the Transjakarta shelter, and continue their trip to Dukuh Atas, where passengers can also connect with the MRT.

In addition, Dwi also explained that Jakpro had just completed the LRT documents and operational licenses. Currently, he added, the preparation process had reached 97 percent.

Jakpro targeted that the LRT will be operational starting on June 2019. "We targeted the LR T to operate on June," Dwi said.

Dwi also added that Jakpro is planning to expand the LRT rails from Kemayoran to the Jakarta International Stadium in Tanjung Priok area. "It is still in the study phase to build rails from Kemayoran to Jakarta International Stadium expanding 1.8 kilometers," he concluded.
