TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Chief of Staff of the Army Strategic Reserve Command Kivlan Zen underwent an examination at the Crime Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police Headquarter as a witness to the suspected hoax and treason reported by Jalaludin. Kivlan’s lawyer Pitra Romadhoni, said that his client was barraged with 26 questions.

"There were around 26 questions, and it was clarified regarding the accusations charged in the treason articles, hoax, and one more about provocation," Pitra said at the Bareskrim headquarter on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Previously, an individual named Jalaludin reported Kivlan to the Bareskrim on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Kivlan was accused of spreading hoax and having an intention to stage treason against the government.

Pitra explained that his client had no intention of conducting treason as accused by Jalaludin. In return, Kivlan officially reported Jalaludin for defamation.

In relation to the treason accusation, according to Pitra, Kivlan had denied it. According to Pitra, his client has no intention to topple the government. "We merely protesting, a demonstration, and it was carried out at the Bawaslu and KPU," Pitra said.

Pitra asserted that the Police will remain professional in handling the case. He also convinced that the case will be dropped because his client did not fulfill the conditions of treason.

Meanwhile, Kivlan considered that case will be dropped after he visited the Bareskrim headquarter. "By God's willing it will be okay. I believe in the Police as professionals and my comrade to protect the nation. The Police and the Army are my friends," Kivlan said.
