TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Many tourist destinations in Indonesia become more popular during the fasting month Ramadan, especially nearing iftar. Most of the places are culinary spots. Here are four areas commonly flocked by tourists while waiting to break their fast or locally known ngabuburit:
- Kampung Jawa (Java Village)
Kampung Jawa is a settlement of Muslim who majority from Madurese ethnic in Denpasar, Bali. Precisely located in Wanasari hamlet, Dauh Puri Kaja village, North Denpasar, the village becomes a culinary market in the afternoon.
Sate Susu or literally means 'milky satay' is one of the popular foods in the area made of the beef udder. The skewer produces a smell of cheese while being grilled, and it is served with hot chili sauce.
- Kampung Jogokariyan (Jogokariyan Village)
The village is located in the south of Keraton Yogyakarta. Tourist can pass Alun-alun Kidul (square) heading to Gapura Plengkung Gading then toward Pondok Pesantren Krapyak to reach Kampung Jogokariyan that is enlivened with lanterns. Foods provided in the village area dawet hitam (traditional drink), nasi balap and samosa, among others.
- Pasar Wadai (Wadai Market)
Wadai Market is a popular culinary destination in Banjarmasin, Kalimantan. As the name means cake, the market sells various kinds of cake along Jalan R.E. Martadinata, beside Martapura River.
- Pasar Pabukoan (Pabukoan Market)
